Rowing is lewd
“I do not believe the Crystal Lake Park District should be a vehicle for the promotion of an agenda,” he said.
Is the Democratic or Republican convention coming to Crystal Lake, Illinois? Well, I’m sure that vehicle for the promotion of an agenda would have been hailed as a great and proud moment for Crystal Lake by the very same commissioner, David Phelps, who voted against a proposal to hold a rowing competition in the town’s lake because “he believes that the Gay Games are more about politics than athletics,” according to today’s Chicago Tribune article.
Apparently, flyers had been appearing warning of “inappropriate and lewd behaviors” at the rowing competition. I’m sure a rowing competition brings forth much more inappropriate and lewd behavior then, say, a NASCAR competition?
Maybe it’s not the behavior, maybe it’s just that concerned residents are worried about family values, because according to Scott Spencer, homosexuality is “contrary and detrimental” to traditional family values. That doesn’t make him a bigot, he says, just like prohibiting interracial marriage in the 1950s wasn’t racist, no, he points out his prejudice is toward his wife, children, grandchildren and the sanctity of the home. If Mr. Spencer sees a bunch of gay athletes competing in a rowing competition, I’m sure his wife will divorce him, his children will become instantly gay, and his family will be destroyed.
Here’s the dirty, inappropriate and lewd Web site of the Gay Games. Warning: this Web site might be suitable for children and families!
